We have already reported numerous times that MellaniuM can import 3D models both large and small from the magnificent Coliseum and the Theatre of Pompey and the model of the Titanic to the various inumerable species of flora and fauna large and small.
In addition this week, we had the distinct honour of presenting on the 25th March to the esteemed Gronstedt Group in a "Train-For-Success" meeting held in the combined APEX and Dinosaur Lounge Dome environments. Anders proceeded to bring in several individuals with serious "virtual world" credentials and there were some gasps of amazement when real-time analysis revealed the minute bandwidth required and the ease of firewall traversal. Anders wrote to us after the meeting and was most profuse with his positive comments
"I’m really impressed with your work and with the platform . Let’s stay in touch, we have a lot of clients with an interest in web.alive. It’s looking great, and the fact that it takes such little bandwidth and can get around firewalls and can be hosted behind the firewall is huge. Thanks for your great work and a wonderful meeting!"
During his keynote speech at VOICECON 2010 Kevin Kennedy CEO of AVAYA introduced the web.alive collaboration application under the umbrella topic of innovation and the future contemplating the fact that the next generation will take to this virtual method of collaboration like ducks to water. Arn Hyndman gives a quick tour and hints at both the power and convenience which are possible by overlaying and meshing web.alive within the enterprise network.
On the 7-11th April in Laval, France there will be held the 12th International Conference on Virtual Worlds and MellaniuM has been nominated for an award in the Real Time Characters and Simulation Section. The submission comprised the MellaniuM Dome with the Dinosaurs and Bar (there is a bottle of Courvoisier in there someplace)
We are, in all honesty, excited to be in the running and who knows?
